One might call Dr Strange, Tony Stark with magic. I prefer to think of it as if Dr House went to a magical monastery and became a sorcerer. The magic effects are fantastic, they're different than anything that's come before. The relationship between Strange and Mordo could have Thor and Loki potential. The action was fantastic, especially that sequence where the Ancient One takes on Kaecillius and his henchmen, both in the beginning and later. The dry, sarcastic humor works really well for me. I even thought Rachel McAdams and Benedict Cumberbatch had realistic chemistry, even though it seems part of the Marvel formula to never fully address how romantic their relationship is in the beginning. Kaecillius could have been a more nuanced villain, sure, but he was really a glorified henchman in service of Dormamu. It was the dark god from another dimension that was the real threat to the world. Either that or the arrogance of Kaecillius to think he understood everything better than anyone else. Strange had to see through the keyhole into a larger world and realize how important each life is.
